My Club Carlson Free Night Posted – And Why I Am Glad It Took So Long!

It took a long time but my Club Carlson free night has posted! It turns out that the long wait ended up actually helping me out quite a bit.

Like many, many other Club Carlson credit card holders, I was dismayed earlier this year when the news came out (sneakily) that they were doing away with the last night free on awards perk. That was really the main reason I was using the card and it was a disappointment.

My Free Club Carlson Night Posted

The May Fair can cost over $500 per night – but free with this certificate!

Fast forward a bit and many people began to complain (rightfully so, especially with the card’s annual fee). Fast forward a little bit past that and they began to issue free night certificates to those individuals – good for any Club Carlson in the world!

Time for me to voice my displeasure! I did that and then got a reply that it was bounced to the “office of the president” for review. Well, a long wait and then another email to me – which was again referred to the “office of the president” for review and response. Yet another long wait and I sent another e-mail. This time, I did not get a reply but checking my account today shows that I do have the certificate! Yea!

Why I Am Glad It Took So Long

My Club Carlson free night is good until October 2016!

So, why is it a good thing that it took so long? When these certificates are given out, they are good for one year from the date of issue (actually, until the end of the month the expiration date falls in). That means that my free night is actually good through October 31, 2016! That is fantastic! While I have a night picked out that I want to use it at, to have until October 31 really helps me out since I am reshuffling my night strategy since later next year would work better for me.

Summary

It would appear that it is not too late to ask for this free night certificate if you have not already! Waiting this long could help you as well since you will have that much longer to use your free night.

If you have not yet written, all you need to do is to login to your US Bank online account and send them a message about it. You should receive a response similar to mine and then just wait. Like I said in a previous post about this – “It could end up working out better for those of us who have not received them yet since they are good for 12 months from the date of issue.” Yep, it did pay off for me! 🙂

  • I have two free nights coming, one each for the personal and business cards. Any idea if Ican use both free nights on the same day for two rooms at the same hotel?

  • Do you know if the stay has to be completed by Oct 2016 or it needs to be booked by Oct 2016 for a later date?

    • Even though it says that terms and conditions apply, I cannot find those terms. I imagine it is like other free nights by other hotels that it must be completed by then.

  • Good luck using it. I’ve tried 4 different properties and it’s unavailable. I’m done with US Bank, met min spend on my wife’s biz card with my AU card, and they would grant the sign up bonus bc the money wasn’t spent on her card. Trying to figure out the central billing bs is impossible. Too bad bc I love CC hotels

    • That is really too bad. I am done with them after this as well, but I have found the hotels I was considering to have availability. The strange thing is that some of the lower hotels in a couple of cities I was looking at are not available while the high end properties are – go figure!
