There is an Amex Offer that has been around for quite a while and it is for eBags. It offers $15 back on purchases of $75 or more. While it is not the best Amex Offer, it is still a great deal, especially when combined with portal offers, discounts, and a coupon. This could be a great time to get some luggage!

Great Deal Combo: Amex Offer, 10X AA Miles, 20% Coupon [eBags]

Amex Offer: $15 Back on $75 eBags Purchase

A great thing about this deal is that it will be around until the middle of June and eBags is famous for having high portal payouts (23x united miles just last year and 35x aa miles in 2013). Not only that, but they also publish great discount codes to take even more off of your purchase. With all of that combined, you can get some gear from eBags with what could be an effective 50-60% off the original price (not even taking into account product sales)! Shopping portals will often not give the points if you use a coupon not on the website – this deal uses the code ESCAPE for 20% off select bags.

Accessing the Amex Offer

Log in to your American Express account and click on any of the cards you have in the account. Scroll down to the Offers portion and you should see the following offer waiting for you!

Amex offer

Here are the details:

  • Must be used by June 10, 2015
  • Must be used online
  • Enrollment limited (in other words, save this offer to your card now)

To maximize itadd the offer to separate cards, simply login to your American Express account and then choose to duplicate the tab (if using Google Chrome) as many times as you have cards. Once they are all open, select a different Amex card in each tab and select to save the offer to the card. This shows up as available on every one of my cards – charge cards, business cards, and personal cards.

Maximizing The Offer

To maximize this deal to get the most for your money, make sure you do these steps:

Sign-up for e-mails

When you visit eBags.com, you will get a pop-up to sign up for their e-mails. Do that and you will receive a 20% off code. While that code cannot be used on all luggage (like higher end name brands), it can be helpful for other purchases.

Amex Offer

If you go this route, remember that the code may get rid of any portal bonus you have. Play it safe and use the ESCAPE discount, which is also for 20%.

Sign-up for their rewards program

You will receive a 5% bonus in the rewards program on everything you buy. This bonus can be used on future purchases.

Go Through AAdvantage Shopping Portal

eBags

Today, the American Airlines AAdvantage shopping portal is paying out 10 miles per dollar, instead of the more regular 7 miles per dollar. AA miles are currently some of the most valuable out there so this is a great deal! Start by going through the portal – here.

There are other portals that may offer more value, including TopCashBack* which is offering 15% cashback on your eBags purchase! To check all the payouts, head over to cashbackmonitor.com.

Use Code ESCAPE For 20% Off Many Items

They are having a big sale over the next couple of days on many pieces of luggage. When combined with the 20% off code, you can get some great deals. Keep in mind that some of the higher name-brand pieces of luggage will not work with the 20% code, but luggage like TravelPro will work.

Putting It All Together

eBags

The Travelpro 21″ Spinner

This particular bag, a 21″ spinner from Travelpro – the Travelpro – Maxlite 3 21″ Exp. Carry-On Spinner Luggage – actually costs at least $15 less than from Amazon. After the sale and discount, it comes down to $95. Once you figure the Amex Offer, it brings it down to $80. You will also earn a 5% reward towards future purchases using eBags rewards program. Finally, you will end up with 950 AA miles.

So, we start with a sale price of $118 before going down to the discount price of $95. That is the amount that the miles and rewards will be based on  because the Amex Offer is a credit back to the statement by Amex.

All in all, this is a pretty good deal! If you are looking for some gear, try it out to see what kind of deals you can get! Feel free to leave in the comments what deals you find.

  • 15% cash back is not really more valuable than 10 AAdvantage miles per dollar. I’d value AA miles at around 2 cents per mile which means 20% cash back.
