The Deal

For the next 2 days, you can get Kindles at great discounts. You can get the basic Kindle for $49 or the Paperwhite for $79. Both are really nice deals but you can get them even better if you have an American Express card that earns Membership Reward Points.

Step 1

Click this link to link your Amex card with your Amazon account (if you have not already done so – but if you took advantage of the awesome 20% off deal, you have already done this step).

Step 2

Click this link to activate the special Kindle offer. This will add an offer to your account (even though it might say it cannot add it – you should see it when you move to the next step) that will take $30 off the Kindle and $40 off the Paperwhite. However, if you add the basic Kindle (or 2) to your cart, it will apply the Paperwhite discount instead to take the $40 off. Be careful of this if you want the Paperwhite discount to apply for the Paperwhite as you cannot use it after you use that $40 off on the basic Kindle.

Step 3

Add a Kindle (or 2) to your cart. Once you go to your cart, select to pay with the American Express MR card. Select to add points (be careful as it may add all points by default) and select to just use $.01 to use just a single MR point.

This will kick the deal above in and you should see the two discounts stack – one for the Deal of the Day and one for this Amex deal.

You are limited to just 2 Kindles of the same device but you can get 2 of each color. If you do this with the basic models, you would check out with 2 orders, using the Paperwhite discount first and the regular discount next. This would give you a total of 4 Kindle devices for a pre-tax total of $59.96 – for 4 Kindles! Flip them or give them as gifts!
