Take advantage of this great new promo for Hyatt credit card holders and get a 10% Hyatt rebate on the points you use at hotels!

A great new Hyatt promo went out – a chance to get a 10% Hyatt rebate back on redemptions! Last year, this was 20% but it is still a great deal to get points back! Here are the details.

Update: The promo will count for those with current reservations that take place during the promo period. Also, it will count for new cardmembers as well. See this post for the details.

10% Hyatt Rebate on Points Redeemed

10% Hyatt points

Who is Eligible?

The e-mail I received said it was for credit cardholders who were in good standing as of July 1. It also said that it was for members who received the e-mail about the promotion. Last time this happened, it was similar and it ended up being for all credit card holders. In fact, they even opened it up to people who applied after the original date so that may work again this time. It would be a good incentive move by Chase and Hyatt to do that so we will have to see.

This link worked to register my wife, also a cardholder, and others who did not receive the e-mail!

Details about the Offer

10% Hyatt Rebate

Here is what the offer is:

Register for this promotion by August 31, 2016

Book a stay – with points or Points+Cash – and complete your stay by October 31, 2016. Free nights at any Category 1 property start at just 5,000 points.

Get 10% of your redeemed points back. Your points will be deposited directly into your Hyatt Gold Passport account after your completed stay.

And the more you redeem, the more you get back.

Here are the terms:

1The promotion is valid only for Hyatt Credit Cardmembers in good standing as of 7/1/2016 who receive this promotion from Hyatt and register for the promotion between 7/11/2016 and 8/31/2016. To qualify for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. Only points redeemed between 7/11/2016 and 10/31/2016 will be eligible for this promotion. If a redemption is connected to a stay, the entire stay must be completed by 10/31/2016. You will receive 10% back on the Hyatt Gold Passport points you redeem for award stays, points + cash, suite upgrades and dining and spa activities. Points redeemed for Avis car rental certificates or points transferred to airline partners are not eligible for this promotion. Please allow 6-8 weeks after your points redemption has been completed for your bonus Hyatt Gold Passport points to be loaded into your account.

Summary

Since I will be qualifying with most of my stays in the second half of this year, I am pretty excited about this (I do most of my stays with Points + Cash). For my normal hotel, it is 4,000 points (plus cash) per night and I get 1,000 points for my Hyatt Diamond amenity. Since my stays are all single night stays, that equates to an actual 3,000 points for the night, plus I will not be getting another 300 points back. I like this math!

The Hyatt credit card is one that I continue to keep year after year for its value in the anniversary night. To read a complete review, check out this post.

  • My question also is do I need to rebook? I have 10 nights at ziva Rosehall in August and have the Hyatt CC would love to get back 10% of those ones

  • Same questions, the terms seem to say that the stay has to be doing the time frame, not the reservation made. Is it best to be safe and make a new reservation after registering and then cancel existing?

  • FYI that if you do a Guest of Honor reservation as a Diamond member (where you use points to book for a family member so they can get Diamond privileges for the stay) Hyatt Concierge told me via Twitter DM that this promotion will not apply. When it’s a Cat 6 hotel that rather stings.

    Not very happy…basically if you use a Diamond benefit (Guest of Honor) it cancels out this offer. It devalues this offer….or the Diamond program….or both. 😉

    • Just heard back from my Hyatt contact – yes, the promo works since the Diamond cardholder member is doing the booking (that is exactly what he said).

      • Thanks for checking…really appreciate it. But….I’m a bit baffled as that’s the opposite of what I was told. Think your contact could check on reservation 20128818? I wrote the Hyatt Concierge via Twitter DM….here’s a copy/paste….hopefully the conversation flow makes sense?

        For this confirmation number – 20128818 – which I booked via my account using Guest of Honor (for my sister and sister-in-law), will I get the 10% points rebate from this promotion? hyatthotels.hyatt.com/content/partne… (I registered for it yesterday)
        ~~~~~~~~~
        Thank you for your message. Unfortunately you will not receive your 10% points rebate, since you are not a registered guest. ^PB
        ~~~~~~~~~
        Hmm….possible to escalate this request? The only reason I’m not on the reservation is that I was taken off for the Guest of Honor program…this basically says that using Guest of Honor is not compatible with this promotion (which I’m guessing is not the intent – means you’re penalizing Diamond members (your most loyal customers) for using a Diamond benefit).
        ~~~~~~~~~
        I will check with Gold Passport team leader, please give me a moment . ^PB
        ~~~~~~~~~
        Sure – thanks for checking. 🙂
        ~~~~~~~~~
        Thank you very much for your patience. I have double checked with our management and unfortunately award transfer/Guest of honor reservations are not eligible for this promotion. Should you have any questions kindly let me know. ^PB
        • I will ask again but received confirmations from two people at the director level so it should be just fine. I will let you know. Unfortunately, like in many companies, people at the CS level may just go by the terms and what is explicitly allowed, not what is explicitly excluded.
          • That I am (Hyatt credit cardholder) and that I did (register).
            Thanks again for double-checking – given what you’re hearing, I think I’ll just wait until after the stay to see if it automatically posts.
