Perfect for Running

In my situation, I had finally found the perfect earbuds for my running (the Bose sport earphones) and was not looking forward to finding a new pair that stayed in my ear while working nicely during my workouts. Almost 3 years ago, I had backed a Kickstarter item which looked very promising but here we are 3 years later and they still have not delivered the headphones (yes, a very bad story for another day). I narrowed it down to a couple of options and one was the Jabra Elite Sports earbuds. I have been using these now for 7 months and they are absolutely fantastic!

Great Fitness Features

Not only do they function in giving some pretty good sound, wirelessly, but they also track your heart rate. In addition, when used with the app, you can actually use them to give you feedback on your performance and even distance/pace of runs and things like that! Since they track your heart rate, it does a nice job of giving real-time feedback on your body condition during a workout.

To be honest, I do not actually use that part of the earbuds that much since I use my Garmin (and would prefer longer battery life) but it can make them a very valuable training tool. It comes with its own charging case to charge them, even when unplugged. The case itself charges from micro-USB.

My biggest gripe about them is their battery life. They last about 3 hours so they are not going to get most people through a marathon. I understand there is a lot of tech built-in so it doesn’t bother me so much but something to keep in mind. The charging case will charge them fully another 2 times without connecting to power.

I love that I turn them on and they are connected. They connect fast and I never lose connection when within the Bluetooth distance limits. I also like the feature of audio passthrough when you are working out in a crowded area or with traffic and you want to hear what is going on around you while listening to music.

They come with:

  • 3 pairs of foam ear tips
  • 3 pairs of EarWings
  • 3 pairs of EarGels

So you should find something to fit your ear! Mine fit very comfortably and snugly so I am happy with them. They also have a built-in mic (which it utilizes for the passthrough) to help you take and make calls while on the go. If a phone call comes while you are wearing them, you can simply say “Answer” and you can talk without touching a button.

I really love these and cannot say enough good things about them! If you want a great pair of wireless earbuds for your workout, this could very easy be that pair! These are sold directly by Jabra and refurbished by them so I wouldn’t have a problem ordering them. In fact, maybe I will pick another pair up! 🙂

Also, they do work quite well for travel but just be aware of the battery limitations!

  • Am I the only one that worries about getting brain cancer from wireless headphones? I like the idea and as a runner it would be awesome. I even have some bluetooth headphones/mic that I use for some calls a few times a month but it just worries me with long term usage.

    • I have a feeling we will find out in a study 20 years from now that they did. But it is a good question. Bluetooth is such low power I would guess it is a very minor risk. More of a risk holding a phone with a cellular radio (that connects up to miles away) than Bluetooth which is only up to 30 feet.

    • And that is what I said in the details. From companies like Jabra and Garmin, I have no problem with refurb products. In many cases, they have better QC than new products.

  • I bought a pair last time and wished I had used Amazon prime so I could no hassle return them. They were extremely hard to assemble the ear buds and ear holders , still don’t stay in well. To make matters worse they are very difficult to get into the charger box.

    • That is very odd. Something is wrong if that is your experience. Not only are they not hard to get into the charging case, they are actually loose in the slots until you shut the lid. Call Jabra as they can still be returned through eBay (30 day returns).
