Earning Points For Being Sweet

Valentine’s Day is next Friday and is the biggest shopping time of the year for flowers, bears, and chocolates. Flowers are not the cheapest things in the world, but they are expected! As such, it is a good idea to see what kind of point deals are out there for your Valentine’s Day shopping. Time for earning points for being sweet!

Earning Points for Valentine’s Day

Some of the biggest points per dollar in the shopping portals are online floral stores. While the point numbers are high, it is normally not great to buy things from those places because the prices are high. However, at this time of the year, many people order from these online stores so it is a good idea to maximize your points while purchasing. Click on the program name to go to the shopping portal. I am listing some of the best offers – I have left some of the cashback sites off because Ultimate Rewards offers more points and can be used as cashback as well.

American Express sync offers

If you login to your American Express account, go to the bottom of the page and click on Offers for You (next to Latest Transactions). Underneath there, there are some great offers that can be added to your American Express cards. If you use one of them through the shopping portal, you will save great cash while still earning the points.

  • 1800-Flowers.com – Spend $50, get $15 back
  • FTD – Get 25% off your purchase
  • Teleflora – Get 30% off your purchase

So, make sure you add one of the promos to your card before going through the shopping portal!

Overview

These are the big three as far as shopping portal bonuses. There are others, but the prices do not differ that much between them all on the generic items so these will net you the most points. Many of these portals are offering percentage discounts that will work at the retailer and earn points. As long as the promotions or codes are on the portal website or the retailer website, you will be all set! Depending on what you are interested in purchasing, FTD may be your best choice. They are offering 30 miles per dollar for both American Airlines and United Airlines and 35 miles per dollar with Delta Airlines. That means that a $100 purchase will net you 3000 miles in one of those programs. Not bad for being sweet! Another good choice would be with ProFlowers through Ultimate Rewards. Those 15 points per dollar are great and you have many transfer partners. One mentionable one is British Airways. If you were to purchase $100 through that, you would earn 1,500 points which could become 1,5000 British Airways Avios. That is 1/3 of the necessary points for a one-way short-haul award ticket on an American Airlines flight (using Avios). Not bad!

Now, go be sweet and pick up some points! 🙂
