With April 1st just ahead of us, there will be many websites that will engage in some type of April Fool’s joke/humor/etc. I choose not to (though I do enjoy reading some of them!) but I did think that it would be good to give you a heads up about credit card offers (or any other page). Who knows what kind of credit card bonus offers may just appear that day – except they may not be offered by the bank!
The image below does not reflect a real credit card offer! That should be very obvious by the amount but I need to make it clear anyway so no one calls Chase trying to figure out how to get it! 🙂

Of course, anyone can edit a page (or anything) in a photo editing program, but not everyone knows that there is an even easier way to edit the appearance of the webpage you are looking at. By simply opening the More Tools > Developer Tools in Google Chrome (look for similar items in other browsers) from the browser menu, you can have the html for the webpage displayed in front of you. This is helpful if you are trying to see how a website does a particular thing or what code they may have used.
It is also useful if you want to trick someone with something like a credit card offer. By opening that tool and hitting search (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F on Mac), you can search for whatever text you are wanting to change. Once you find it, just delete that text and insert your own! Of course, this does not do anything beside change what the text says on your screen. If you were to hit Apply, you would be greeted with the genuine offer and not the edit you made. That edit is purely text and does nothing with the bank’s system. To make it clear – this is not a hack in any sense of the word!
So, if you are told about an unbelievable credit card offer, always ask for the link if you want to see it for yourself. Do not believe every credit card offer screenshot you see! Without even opening a photo editing program, anything like that can be changed in under a minute. Of course, if you want to have some fun with a mile/point hungry friend, go ahead and do this on your screen and walk away or call them over and see their reaction. But, be ready for them to push you out of the way to apply for it themselves!
