I know – hearing any good news in conjunction with Delta has been rare this year. But, this is a nice little positive in the midst of all the negatives. If you plan on traveling to Europe over the next several months and you have been wondering what to do with your Delta Skymiles, this could be it!

This deal popped up yesterday without notice from Delta. Delta Points first wrote about the findings but, unfortunately for all of those who have given up a bit on Delta, it was not available to the many of us. That was because elites and Delta Amex cardholders got a one-day head start on this sale.

But, today it is officially open and available to all! I checked many routes this morning and found some great availability in both coach and business. Here are the details on this surprise Delta award sale:

• Origins & Destinations | Award Travel sale from select cities in the contiguous 48 United States to select cities in Europe.
• Fares | 42,000-100,000 miles* plus taxes and fees. Additional fees/restrictions/baggage charges may apply.
• Purchase By | August 21, 2015
• Advance Purchase | 50 days
• Travel Period | Travel may begin on or after October 20, 2015 and all travel must be completed by February 29, 2016.
• Minimum Stay | None

The orange dates are the lowest prices in this range for business class one way.

The availability of roundtrip mileage prices to Europe – all the orange represents the low prices.

Even though the amount above is vague as far as the miles required, the best you can look for is 21,000 miles one way in coach and 43,500 miles one way in business. You may find a variety of mileage costs as you search for tickets and that is because there are a variety of mileage fares and it all is built and added together.

While this sale is good through August 21, I would not wait. You don’t know when the preferred dates and routes will disappear. The sale is good for travel from October 20 – February 29 so it covers a nice wide range of dates and holidays.
