Today only, you can get a deal on an upgrade model of the MacBook Air for $300 off! This is the latest model and is great for travel and more!

My favorite portable computer had been the former MacBook 12″ model. It was just perfect for getting some things done while traveling while still having the great retina display. Apple no longer makes it but they do have the better MacBook Air 13″ with its own retina display – and that is on sale today for $300 off.

Unlike many deals in the past, this is not the entry model with 128gb of storage (which, in my opinion, is almost worthless for storage space). No, today, we get the upgraded model with 256gb of storage, 8gb of RAM and a dual core 8th generation i5 processor.

While it does not share the same very small size of the old MacBook 12″, this model has a couple of things going for it right away – 1 extra inch of diagonal display and an extra USB-C port. That was my biggest gripe about the old 12″, that there was just one port. That port was used for everything – power, display, external drives/other peripherals. Having one was difficult so the MacBook Air is better for sure right there.

Normally, this costs $1,299 but today only, you can get the Silver model for $999 direct from Amazon. This means that if you have any of the targeted promos for using Discover points, ThankYou points, Ultimate Reward points, or Membership Reward points with Amazon for a discount, they will work with this deal.

I think this is a good deal for anyone that needs a very portable computer at a good price – and you are already in the Apple system. If you are just looking for a portable computer and do not care about the operating systems, I think there are better options out there (like the Surface Pro 7 or many of the Dell laptops).

Just keep this in mind – Apple is due to refresh this laptop this year. But, this is already a capable portable machine and this is a good sale price that we may not see again on this model for a while.
