Takeaway

Make sure you read through here to see which company’s sale may work best for you. Some of the deals are only for 14 days while other agencies are allowing even their higher-end vehicles to go at discount as well. I mean, come on, how nice would it be to drive up I-95 in a convertible for only $14.95 per day? 🙂

Remember, there are various taxes and fees that will go on top of these rates. The secret is to select a pickup location that does not have high taxes, like picking up from a non-airport location, for example.

Also, if you do rent the max from some companies (21 days), check the credit card you use to see if they cover a rental for that long. The Chase Sapphire Preferred (and reserve) will cover for up to 31 days while you can add the premium primary insurance on any Amex card for $19.95 for the whole rental period and that will cover up to 42 days.

I actually took advantage of such a deal a couple of years back with National (not on the list of deals this time). They had rates of $9.95 per day and I took a cheap flight down to Florida to pick up a minivan for our family (gotta love National elite status to pick a car!) for 21 days. Even counting the gas, I saved hundreds of dollars by doing this. So, make sure you consider your vehicle needs over the next couple of months!
