9/11 + 13 And Still Not Forgotten

Everyone remembers where they were were on September 11, 2001. It is a day that brought American normalcy to a halt as terrorism was brought inside our borders with devastating force. It immediately impacted Americans from all walks of life as the victims of the attack filled the spectrum of humanity.

That day, 2,996 people’s lives were ended as they made their way about their lives in the most normal ways. People in uniform did die in the attack that day, but they were not wearing the uniforms we are used to seeing in battle. There were heroes that day that showcased that people still do put the welfare of others ahead of their own. In the midst of it being the most horrible of days, it was also a day filled with lights of self-sacrifice.

Today marks 13 years since that dreadful day. A lot has happened since that day. It is amazing to think of all that has transpired because that day continues to burn in my memory like it was yesterday. Yet, I now have three children to whom the story of that day does not make the impact as it does to those were living during that day. They look at it has history – history that their parents and many, many others lived as present day happenings.  Many people continue to suffer from the effects of that day, including those who lost loved ones as a result of that day. To them, that day will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with them as each year is a stark reminder of another year that terrorists took from their family.

For those of us who board airplanes, the lasting effect of that day continues to live on as we go through the security process that has become the norm. Of course, some of the process and even the way certain individuals act about it can be found annoying (or more), but as we make our way through there today and in the coming days, let us take a moment to remember the events that brought it to pass and the lives of all those who were changed because of it. In a way, the airport security process will always be there to make sure we never forget September 11, 2001. Hopefully, it will never serve as the only thing to make us not forget 9/11.

  • Hi Charles,
Good post. I think it’s important to remember those who affected by Sept 11, may they rest in peace.

By the way, in the light of new iPhone 6 that will came out on 19th and we can pre-order online on 12th via Apple website. Can you please share some ideas and tips on how to maximize the portal to double dip or earn more miles/points for those who want to place the preorder at 12 am tonight via Apple website?
Can I use Ink card to buy several iTunes gift cards at the office supply stores (OfficeMax, Staples) to get 5X and use it to pay for the iPhone when I want to pre-order online via Apple website? Or is it better to use shopping portal to buy iTunes gift cards to double dip? Please advise and I think many would really appreciate if you can write a blog about this (if you want to).

  • Thanks!!!! That would be helpful since many of us are planning to get it.
I will be ready on my computer tonight at 12 a.m. to make a preorder, as Apple will take preorder on 12th. So I guess when the clock tick into midnight then it will go live for preorder. Have to be fast before it run out of stock, right?
My concern is, if the best way to maximize the earning of points/miles is by double dipping through ordering itunes gc via shopping portal by using Ink, not sure how much the maximum amount of each itunes gc and how many itunes gc that we have to buy and can pay the iphone with that. Also, if have to order itunes gc online, it will need to take a while for the gc to be sent to us and afraid that the stock sold out while we are waiting for the gc to arrive.
