50,000 United Miles w/ Business Card and (Targeted) 50K w/ Personal Card

50,000 United
Written by Charlie

The United credit card cycles through with various offers – the normal offer is 30,000 miles and the occasional offer is 50,000 miles. Last year, we saw the 50,000 mile offer a couple of times but since then, it has only been available as a targeted offer. HT to View From the Wing for the business card offer

Until now! United and Chase are again offering the business card as a public offer of 50,000 United miles after spending $2,000 in 3 months.

Card Benefits

Invalid request error occurred.

  • free first checked bag
  • priority boarding
  • no fees on foreign transactions†
  • 2 united club passes per year
  • 10,000 bonus miles when you spend $25,000 in net purchases on your card each year
  • 5,000 bonus miles when you add an authorized user and make a purchase in the first three months
  • earn 2 miles per dollar spent on tickets purchased from united
  • earn 1 mile per dollar spent on all other purchases
  • miles don’t expire
  • Any Seat, Any Time on any United flight (award seats on United flights can be booked as long as there is one seat left on the plane for cardholders)

The Offer’s Strong Points

The annual fee ($95) is waived for the first year, which is always a good thing. And the 50,000 miles you will accrue with this offer are almost enough for a one-way business class ticket to Europe aboard United or a round-trip ticket to Europe or enough for two round-trip tickets in the US. No matter how you slice it, there is a lot of value here!

Another great thing about this card is that it has the same terms as most chase cards as of late – you can get this offer as long as you have not received the bonus from the card within the last 24 months and you do not currently have the card. That means, if you have the card right now, move the credit line to another Chase card, cancel the card, and then apply for this offer.

The offer for this is targeted at the 50,000 mile offer. I have it in my account (you must be logged in to your United account) but my wife does not.

It has the same benefits as the business version with one important addition – 5,000 bonus miles for adding an authorized user (and having the user use the card).

Getting the additional 5,000 miles

The card itself comes with a 50,000 mile bonus. To get the extra 5,000 miles, you must add an authorized user and make a purchase in the first three months. To add that user, all you need to do is to select to speak to a customer service representative when you call to activate the card. Once you speak with them, give them the name of your authorized user and you are all set! Make sure you do not add the person as joint on the card or else it could prevent them from getting the bonus!

  • Are the regular personal Chase United card and the business United card considered separate products? I’ve never had the United business card before but I recently got the regular personal United card, do you think I’d be able to apply and get the bonus for this?

  • Hey. Any word out there how long the Business card offer will last? And do you know of an easier way to find out online how long one has had a particular cc, to avoid calling into the bank? Thanks!

    • No idea how long it will last but the html address uses the LTO line – limited time offer – so I would guess it might be a two week thing or something. Hard to tell with Chase!
As for finding out when you got the miles, probably the easiest way is to login to your United account and check your account history to see when the bonus posted (it will give you the date and amount of miles). Count forward 24 months from then and just make sure you do not have the card right when you apply!

  • how do they check the 24 month rule? if you have changed your billing address and applied for the new card can you get the bonus? Any experience is greatly appreciated.

i think i had a continental business card and then it changed to united…so maybe the 24 months has been passed already? its started when i had the continental card or when they sent the new card?

    • It is tracked by your social security number. If it was the Continental business card, than you certainly received the bonus more than 24 months ago. There are only two things that matter for the bonus to be received again: when you received the last bonus (must be at least 24 months) and if you still have the same card (can be cancelled the day before applying for the new one). So, you should be just fine.
