United Releases New iPad App Update For Free Video Streaming

On Wednesday, United issued an update to their iPad app to allow for video streaming content on several of their aircraft. The move was announced a while back and now iPad users can have the app ready to go for aircraft that have been updated with the new hardware.

United says that it will be streaming 150 movies and more than 200 TV shows and will do it for free! It is to be available on a variety of aircraft including the A319, A320, 747-400, and 777-200 (select planes of the 777 model). This service will be free as it is will undoubtedly carry advertisements of the Chase United card and will be free from in-flight WiFi fees since it is accessed using the United app.

To find out if your upcoming flight will be carrying this technology for your iPad, you can check the Flight Status page on United.com to see what amenities will be offered. This should be a nice addition to in-flight entertainment since it allows you to use your own device and position it comfortably as well as share between companions.
