United Airlines Award Devaluation Postponed

United devaluation
Written by Charlie

February 1 is here – and United apparently has decided they are not as well prepared to handle the new award chart as they may have thought before. Instead of the new, huge mileage hikes kicking in today, they are now postponed until Monday (February 3). So, now you have today and tomorrow to still try to catch any business or first class award tickets that may have not been there before.

United devaluation

If I had to guess at the real reason that United is postponing the new award chart, I would say that it is because they are expecting some bugs to arise with the new award bookings and they want to make sure they have their full slate of customer service people at the ready to handle what may come up. That could be good news for some if there are some glitches that price out low. 🙂 For everyone else, if you have been on the fence about booking those last business/first class tickets with your United miles, get booking! Remember, as long as there is availability, you can book all the way to the end of the schedule (in other words, you do not have to book for travel this weekend). I will still be sitting on my United stash and using them for coach travel for my family and I. However, delays like this do tempt me to start looking… 🙂
