Black Friday Deals

It’s here – the biggest shopping day of the year! There are a bunch of relevant deals I have found already and will be rolling out throughout the day. However, while they are relevant for the readers of Running with Miles, some of them may not be as much of interest to those that frequent the BoardingArea home page. For that reason, I will not publish certain deals to the BoardingArea home page.

If you want in on these deals, make sure you are following me on Twitter to know when those deals go up!

Today only, you can earn 6 United miles per dollar when shopping at Apple.com. It is only on a few days throughout the year that Apple.com sees such big mile payouts and it is only on one day per year that Apple offers free gift cards with purchases! So, this could be a great deal for you!

Here are the details of this promo bonus from United’s MileagePlus for Apple:

  • iPhone X and Apple TV 4K are not eligible.
  • Newly released products may not be eligible.
  • Additional products not eligible are:
    • gift cards
    • gift wrap
    • Bose products
    • expedited shipping
  • Apple sells and ships products to end user customers only; you may not purchase for resale.
  • Eligible only to a customer for up to five (5) units per eligible product, except iPhone, in which case only two (2) units within a thirty-day (30-day) period are eligible.
  • Employee Purchase Plan sites are not eligible. EPP purchases are not eligible.
  • Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on this site.
  • Not eligible on gift cards, gift certificates or any other similar cash equivalents

Yes, it says newly released products are not eligible, but the most recently released products are the iPhone X and Apple TV 4K. So, you are ok with everything else. Especially since United is advertising the iPhone 8 and 8Plus on this same page above.

Today only, Apple is giving award free Apple store gift cards with certain purchases. Here is the breakdown:

  • Get an Apple Gift Card worth up to $100 when you buy select iPad models today
  • Get an Apple Gift Card worth up to $50 when you buy select iPhone models today
  • Get a $25 Apple Gift Card when you buy select Apple Watch Series 1 models today
  • Get a $150 Apple Gift Card when you buy select Mac computers today

How Good of a Deal Is This?

Do keep this in mind – Apple does not discount there own products. There retailers have been offering discounts on Apple products so definitely check those places (like Best Buy, Amazon, Adorama, B&H Photo, and eBay) to see what deal prices may be in effect. Also keep in mind that if you are outside of NY (and NJ for Adorama), you will not pay sales tax when purchasing from B&H and Adorama. You will pay sales tax when purchased from Apple.

On custom machines, you will get the best deal from Apple today. On refurbished models, the same should be true across the line. But, for standard things like WiFi models of iPads or non-custom built Macs, definitely give places like B&H a look.

BTW, B&H has a nice deal on a 2016 MacBook Pro 15″ laptop today for only $1,599. Yes, it is a year old but it is still a good machine. I am currently typing on a slightly upgraded model of that same computer.
