Targeted SPG Promotion

SPG has recently launched a promo that is targeted but is a great deal for those who can use it! The promo is to stay in a SPG-participating property from December 1, 2012 – February 28, 2013 for one night and earn a free award night in a Category 1-6 for a weekend night. The free night must be used by February 28, 2014. If you are eligible to participate in this promo, then you should definitely take advantage of it. My wife was eligible and we have to travel within this timeframe anyway, so we are going to make sure it is a SPG property. So, for less than $100, we will be able to stay at a hotel that could cost over $500 or 20,000 points for free! Category 6 is not the highest (it goes up to 7), but there are many St. Regis hotels that are classified as Category 6. So, were you part of this targeted SPG promotion? Click here to sign-up with your SPG number and find out!

SPG Promotion

No one in my family received the e-mail that some got inviting them to participate in the promo, but 2 family members were able to apply and are currently registered for it. Not a very scientific sample, but here are are the data points:

  • Person 1 – SPG Gold member with stays this year and 70K+ SPG points and SPG Amex card – NO
  • Person 2 – SPG member with no stays this year and 1K SPG points and SPG Amex card – YES
  • Person 3 – SPG member with no stays this year and no SPG points and SPG Amex card – NO
  • Person 4 – SPG member with no stays this year and no SPG points and SPG Amex card – NO
  • Person 5 – SPG member with no stays this year and 30K+ SPG points and SPG Amex card – YES
  • Person 6 – SPG member with no stays this year and 30k+ SPG points and SPG Amex card – NO
So, I have no idea how they invite people, but there is a little idea of how it played out for our family! This is a great promo and I would definitely do it if you qualify! Again, I do not know what there parameters are for qualification, but I do know that everyone I know of that qualified did have the SPG card. I do not know if that is a coincidence or not, but it doesn’t hurt to sign-up for it! You get 10,000 Starpoints after 1st purchase and an additional 15,000 if you spend $5,000 in 6 months. If you sign-up through the banner below, I do get a commission for  this (and thank you for doing that!).
