Here is this week’s Sunday Summary where we look at the posts from the week.
The time for planning your spending on credit cards for this year is here and this post shows you the best credit cards to put big spending on for miles and status this year.
Part of the new Miles+Bonus program is the issuance of 4 business class upgrades for Aegean/Olympic flights. This post breaks down what you can do with those upgrades and how to use them.
The CardMatch tool is back with some nice reports of targeted offers on Amex cards. I came up with nothing but there are targeted offers of 100,000 points, so check out and see if you were targeted for that big point payday!
A fare war between United and Delta drove prices from hub airports to destinations all over the world at very low prices. It is nice to see airlines go at it like this and make it so cheap for us!
Not exactly worldwide destinations (though there are some international cities) but JetBlue ran one of their airfare sales this week starting from $39.
Getting an unlocked smartphone is very handy when traveling internationally. The Amazon Fire Phone gives you that functionality and does that for the low price of $189 – which also includes a year of Amazon Prime!
Etihad confirmed that they were going to stand by those extremely cheap tickets as issued but they also had some bad press by leaving people on the tarmac for over 12 hours!
If you have 2.2 million Etihad miles, you can book one of the many available award spots on the new, exclusive Etihad Residence. Not worth that many miles to me at all, but if this trip is really a desire of yours, this is how you can do it without paying cash. 🙂
Buying miles is a good value. but only in certain circumstances. If you are in need of AA miles, however, this offer from AA is a great chance to get the miles you need for that upcoming award.
Believe it or not, there are times that being from certain places can help you in tough situations when traveling abroad! In this case, my NY driver’s license opened some roads up for me. 🙂
Amex is at it again with a great offer – get $25 back on $100 purchase at Staples.com. Even though the terms exclude gift cards, I received my congratulatory e-mail for redeeming the offer within seconds after purchasing a $100 Visa gift card – free money!
There is a new flight coming which is claiming to be the world’s shortest international flight. This flight is a scheduled 25 minutes but only spending about half that time in the air.
Aegean Airlines is out with up to 40% off international flights while they add 15 new destinations for 2015. These new destinations give some additional great coverage by this airline into the Middle East and other destinations around Europe.
Friday was the running of the 38th Tiberias Marathon and it saw me at the starting line. It has been 8 years since I first ran this race – as my first marathon. A lot has changed since then and it was great to run it again. Here is my race report.
It is not a big surprise to have airports closed or flights delayed because of weather conditions, but this was the first time that weather conditions closed the roads I needed to reach the airport – which was not closed nor did it have cancelled flights.
