Best Marathons To Qualify For Boston

With the 2014 Boston Marathon underway, there are many runners who are watching it or following it and already thinking of the day that they can toe the line in Boston as well. Part of being able to achieve the qualifying time necessary is training, part of it is weather, part of it is good race strategy – and part of it can be the course that you choose…

Why Can’t Airlines Understand Same Names?

hen you purchase an airline ticket (or redeem for an award), you have to put down your name as it appears on your government ID, your birthdate, and your gender. With those three bits of information, unless you have a twin and you both have the same exact name, it is easy to differentiate individuals. So, since airline systems require that information, why can their own systems not process that…

Two Months Late – No Match For Me!

Back in February, Etihad Airways was running a promotion where they would match you to their Gold status if you sent them a copy and statement from another airline with which you had Gold or higher. I read about this on Loyalty Lobby and did it right away. Good thing, too, because they changed the terms within a couple of days to state that…

A Great Reason To Keep Your SPG Card

With the upcoming changes to the American Express consumer cards on May 1 being tossed around, many consumers may find that some of the cards have lost their value since they can no longer sign-up again for the bonus down the road. While there may be a possibility that American Express may continue to offer some customers a reduced sign-up bonus, we do not know that for sure yet. While I do find the American Express SPG card to be one of the most valuable when it comes to point currencies, there may be many…

Global Entry – A Family Timesaver

I have written about my thing for Global Entry a few times. Quite frankly, I love Global Entry! It is such a convenience and timesaver and is definitely something to consider for anyone thinking about/doing international travel. Here is just one of the reasons I love it and why it’s value went up even higher in my eyes. Global Entry And Families Yesterday, we returned to NY for a little while. Our flight got us into JFK late Tuesday night and we had to…

Southwest Airlines 25% Bonus

Southwest Airlines is running a promotion from now through the end of May. It gives a 25% bonus on all points purchased (for one’s self or gifted) or transferred. It is available for all members and the transaction. So, is it a good deal? I have written before about good purchase/transfer promos from other airlines and some of them have been very good deals, but only for some people depending on the type of redemptions they have in mind. But with an airline like…

My $32 Seat Felt Pretty Good!

I am currently in Seattle for the Frequent Traveler University and got out here with Delta (it has been almost a year since I flew Delta!). My flight took me through Detroit and I will return home via JFK. I was only upgraded on the first leg and unfortunately will not be eligible for an upgrade on the way home since Delta markets the SEA-JFK route as a BusinessElite route only and not available for complimentary upgrades (which stinks since they are not even…

Complimentary Internet – What Are Your Expectations?

With internet usage exploding everywhere, people are finding the speeds getting faster and the cost getting lower – in most circumstances (the exception is where internet implementation is outside of the mainstream, like GoGo In-Flight internet). With this happening, we become more accustomed to having access to…

First Experience With JetBlue Mosaic

Last month, JetBlue was offering status matches and challenges from other elite programs to their own Mosaic elite status. JetBlue only has one status above that of a general member. The name of it is Mosaic status and it does not carry all of the perks that one expects from other elite programs, namely complimentary upgrades. However, there are still some decent perks to the program that flyers may find useful. First Experience With JetBlue Mosaic I had applied for and was approved for my Mosaic status match. This meant that…
