US Airways Offers Up To 100% Share Bonus For One Week

Here it is again – a great opportunity to share miles and have up to an additional 100% bonus shared as well! I received this offer in my e-mail just now and it is pretty good news! US Airways ran this promo quite often last year in the Star Alliance. This is the first time since they are in the Oneworld Alliance and it can be extremely useful if you have any big travel plans within the Oneworld Alliance. To max out this promo, you would share 50,000 and basically be… Read more…

Marathons With Olympic Finishes

There is something very special about the Olympics. It is always great to see the world’s best athletes competing against each for personal achievements and national pride. In my travels, I always enjoy going by the Summer Olympic stadiums in various cities to see the places where these great events took place. To that end, I thought it would be a good idea to find all the marathons that had Olympic finishes.  Read more…

DevAAluation Begins – US Airways and American Airlines Sneak It In

This was an inevitable occurrence (in fact, I had another post that was to post about this later today before this news, so check back later for that) but I do not think anyone expected the new American Airlines (with US Airways) to strike a blow at their award chart so soon. That they snuck it in without prior notice makes it even worse. Let me say this first… Read more…

My Fears About the Upcoming AA/US Award Chart

This post had been worked on and mostly written before the surprise changes made to both programs this morning. Because of that, it has been edited to better reflect the current situation and to look at the future situation. The Upcoming AA/US Award Chart This morning, US travelers woke to find that US Airways and American Airlines had made very exact changes to their award program. There was not really overlap and non of the changes are enough to make people forsake the programs entirely. The most detrimental of changes effect… Read more…

High-Speed Internet Coming To International Flights

If you have ever used WiFi on airplanes, you know it can annoyingly slow! On international flights, it is even worse. The airlines that offer it have packages whereby they charge by the amount of data used. For those situations, you can be happy it is slow – it will take even longer to use up your allotment! However, GoGo is looking to change that for their international flights. It is expected to be rolled out to their customers by mid-2015 and is being tested with Japan Airlines now.  Read more…

With The Recent And Future Changes To AA, Should You Apply For AA Cards?

Yesterday saw the first step in alignment between US Airways and American Airlines with their award calendars. While it was not a sweeping overhaul (yet), the changes targeted some of the most lucrative parts of the AA and US Airway award calendars. With these changes behind us (enacted immediately) and more changes coming, many have wondered if it is still a good time to apply for AA cards. Hopefully, this will help you with that decision. Should You Apply For AA Cards? The short answer is… Read more…

Looking Back: Using the Post Office As An ATM

I used to do a lot of bulk mailings. One of the things that always drove me nuts was the payment processing part of the equation. They would not take the business checks sometimes (depended on the agent) because the check did not have my driver’s license number printed on the check itself. It didn’t matter if I wrote it in – it had to be printed on there. So, that meant… Read more…

What’s On Your Calendar?

As we are inside of spring now (whether the weather knows it or not!), many of you are in training phases for races this spring or summer. I am curious what races you have on your calendar already or are thinking of putting on the calendar? Local races, races in a neighboring city, races in another state/country – what is on your list? Read more…

Will You Be In Seattle For FTU?

The Frequent Traveler University will be hitting Seattle in just two weeks (April 25-27). It should be a great program and I am really looking forward to putting a lot of faces to names! This will be the first such meeting I have been able to attend and I am looking forward to getting to many of who may be there. If you are going to be there, I hope to have a couple of group runs. I mentioned… Read more…

JetBlue REALLY Wants To Give Me 20,000 Points

I am getting an e-mail from JetBlue every 7-8 days for the last few weeks telling me “You asked. We listened. 20,000 points.” I keep thinking they actually want to give me the points – especially since they had given me the Mosaic status. Nope, it is not just giving it to me but is a credit card ad for their co-branded American Express JetBlue card. Since I imagine many of you have been getting these e-mails as well (if you signed up for their recent promos, for example), I thought it would be good to… Read more…

Are The Club Carlson Cards Worth Keeping?

Our Club Carlson credit cards are coming up for renewal and the analysis has been done as to whether I should keep them open. I know other people have been wondering the same about these cards, so I thought it would be good to review what you get for keeping these cards with their annual fees. Are The Club Carlson Cards Worth Keeping?  Read more…

Award Availability For The Reykjavik Marathon

The Reykjavik Marathon will take place on August 23. I ran this race last year and found it to be an awesome race in a beautiful place! One of the great things about this race is that it is in a beautiful European country that is only a few hours from the US. That makes it incredibly convenient for East Coast runners. Read more…

Word of Caution About Mapping Sites

When traveling to a new city, I always like to refer to sites like MapMyRun or Garmin Connect so I know where the locals like to run. I also use courses run by similar runners to me on Dailymile that they upload. It is a big timesaver to do that versus trying to find out routes on my own. Sometimes what looks good on Google Maps doesn’t always tell the real story. Getting local running routes is … Read more…
