As I wrote about a couple of weeks ago, Singapore Airlines has moved to drop their fuel surcharges various amounts across their route network. Some of their flights carry high fuel surcharges so the decreased amounts are very helpful. Today is the day of the decreased fuel surcharges!

They have discounted the fuel surcharges anywhere from $5 – $83 per segment and depending on class of travel and route. Some of their expensive routes, like Los Angeles – Tokyo – Singapore, have dropped the most with the decrease. If you have already booked travel at the higher amounts and there is availability still there for your preferred flights, you could call Singapore’s call center (800 742-3333)and ask them if they can reissue the tickets. If that does not work, you could switch dates and then switch back (or leave it at the new dates) as those changes are free.

This is a great thing for an airline to do in passing along the fuel savings to their passengers. This also makes some of the nicest cabins in the sky a little more affordable with the cash needed for the award tickets, especially if taking more than one person on the trip.
