I ran the Rocket City Marathon back in 2011 and had a great time there. It is definitely a well put on event and one that I really enjoyed. The price is lower than most, there is no real congestion for the expo or starting line, and the weather is normally pretty good (although it was really cold, like NY in December cold, the year I did it).
The registration fee is going up October 1st. Through the last day of September, you can register for $75. After that, it will be kicked up to $90. Not only will you face a fee increase but there are also only 200 spaces left for the marathon! If you are still looking for a nice end of the year marathon, this should be on your list. It is easy to get to, the town is very receptive to runners, the committee puts on an excellent race, and you get another state for your marathoning totals!
