Rent A Car From Florida To Anywhere For $9 A Day

Rental car
Written by Charlie

Car rental companies are doing their annual thing off trying to offload their cars from the Sunshine state to anywhere else in America (in some cases, specific locations). It helps them move these vehicles closer to places where they will need them instead of paying for the moving of the cars themselves. If you can find the right situation, it can be extremely cost effective!

Rental car

This is a great deal on a rental for up to 21 days! Obviously, it is the better deal for those of you on the border of Florida, but it can still work for those who may need a longer term rental and are willing to drive. Even with the gas, the rental cost may still equal that of 1 week – but you get it for 3 weeks!

This is not something offered by every rental car company. Here are the ones that are having these promos, their terms, any possible savings, and examples.

Alamo

Rental carAlamo offers the three weeks instead of the two weeks that you would get with Avis. They also have far more participating locations than Avis offers so this offer truly can be used to drop off just about anywhere.

  • Cars (Economy – Full-size) – $9.95 per day
  • SUVs – $19.95 per day
  • Mini-Van – $24.95 per day
  • Valid for one-way rentals reserved by May 31, 2014, for travel from April 1 – May 31, 2014
  • Minimum one-day/maximum 21-day rental required
  • Offer cannot be combined with any other discounts, coupons or promotional rates
  • Website to reserve this deal
  • To rent for the full three weeks, the cost with taxes is $315 for any size car (except for premium/luxury)

Avis

Avis offers the one-way rental deal from Florida for only two weeks of a rental instead of three weeks. Depending on your car needs, that still may be okay for what you are looking for. Here are the terms:

  • Cars (Economy – Full-size) – $9.95 per day
  • SUVs (Intermediate – Elite) – $19.95 per day
  • Mini-Van – $24.95 per day
  • Pick-up – $9.95 per day
  • Valid for checkout between 4/15/14 and 6/30/2014 for rentals returned at Northeast and Piedmont locations
  • Rates are non-discountable; they may not be combined with any other AWD number, coupon, promotion or offer The system may allow you to enter a code, but you will risk the rental being repriced at walk-up prices the day of the rental should the rep pull the code.
  • Rates require a minimum 1- to maximum 14-consecutive-day rental period
  • Please reference AWD #S705900 when you reserve
  • Website for more information

Avis is somewhat restricted in the cities they allow the returns to take place in. They also have the shortest rental period of the agencies offering these deals. However, being able to get an elite SUV for $19.95 is a pretty great deal – as is getting a pick-up for only $9.95 per day.

Enterprise

The deal for Enterprise is the same as it is for Alamo. The terms and rates are the same as well.

  • Cars (Economy – Full-size) – $9.95 per day
  • SUVs – $19.95 per day
  • Mini-Van – $24.95 per day
  • Valid for one-way rentals reserved by May 31, 2014, for travel from April 1 – May 31, 2014
  • Minimum one-day/maximum 21-day rental required
  • Offer cannot be combined with any other discounts, coupons or promotional rates
  • Website to reserve this deal
  • To rent for the full three weeks, the cost with taxes is $315 for any size car (except for premium/luxury)

National

National also has the same details and terms as Avis and Enterprise. The maximum rental time is 21 days. While this also has the language against coupons and discounts, I have been able to apply a coupon that is publicly available on the National rental car site.

Summary

I have National Executive status which gave me an additional $20 off the rental. It also offers some additional perks, so if you have Executive status (which you can get through the American Express Platinum card), go with National to get the best deal. When it comes to insurance for these rentals, the insurance with cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred only cover rentals of 15 continous days or less. If you plan on renting for the full 21 days, you will need to either rely on your regular insurance to cover or use an American Express card that you have activated for the Amex insurance. It costs $24.95 per rental (for the whole period – not per day) and will cover more than the 21 days needed here. For more information on that, check the website here.
