New Marriott Card Offer: 55,000 Total Points + $200 Gift Card

$200 gift card

Another new Marriott card offer has surfaced. This one is for a total of 55,000 points and $200 gift card for Marriott. If you are thinking about a Marriott card, this could be a good one!

I had just written last week about another new Marriott card offer for a total of 77,500 points and no annual fee the first year to contrast the 87,500 point offer with the annual fee the first year. In the past, the Marriott Premier card has been the most confusing when it came to the amount of offers that were available on the same card. Now, another offer is introduced into the mix.

After I posted the offer last week, reader BA mentioned that he had received a targeted offer for something different – 50,000 points and a $200 Marriott gift card! That got my wheels churning and I looked around for a public offer for that and found one. If you plan the stays properly, this $200 Marriott gift card can take you even further than the extra 20,000 points would have from the offer last week!

Card Details:

  • Earn 50,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
  • Earn a $200 Marriott gift card when you receive your points for spending the $3,000

  • 1 free night stay at a Category 1-5 hotel every year after your account anniversary
  • 5 points for every $1 spent at over 4,000 Marriott® locations, including our exclusive luxury hotel partner, The Ritz-Carlton
  • 2 points for every $1 spent on airline tickets purchased directly with the airline, and at car rental agencies and restaurants
  • 1 point for every $1 spent on purchases anywhere else
  • 15 credits toward your next Elite membership level after account approval and every year after account anniversary
  • Earn 1 Elite credit for every $3,000 spent on purchases
  • Annual fee of $85 is waived the first year

The Gift Card

If you do not want to stay at Marriott hotels but would rather get the cash, you could sell your $200 Marriott gift card for at least $150 (check GiftCardGranny). While not as good as $200, that is still a nice way to get some extra money from this offer.

But, let’s assume that you are keeping the gift card. In exchange for going for this offer over the one with a total of 77,500 points, you are taking a $200 gift card instead of 22,500 points. I think anyone would say that the gift card would be of a greater worth and value than the points. But, it comes down to what your goals are with points. If you are trying to save up for a particular redemption, the points would come in handier. Otherwise, give this offer a good look.

Summary

Choice is always good with offers and this gives yet another element to our choices. This offer is for a total of 55,000 points (when you figure the 5,000 points for the additional cardholder) and a $200 gift card for Marriott. That has some great value and puts a cash value on a portion of the sign-up. Personally, if I was in the market for a Marriott card right now, I would go for this offer.
