Last month, Hyatt announced some new benefits for their top-tier Diamond members. With these benefits, not only Diamond members benefit from them.

New Hyatt Diamond Benefits Live

Guest of Honor

Probably one of the biggest benefits that has arrived is the fact that Diamond benefits are now transferrable to the stays of friends and family. When you book an award stay for your friends or family out of your Diamond account, it allows them to receive all of your Diamond benefits. This was technically allowed before as long as your name was on the reservation, but now that it not necessary. The new program is called “Guest of Honor” and it is a nice perk to be sure. Here is what your guest of honor will receive:

  • The best room available upon arrival, excluding suites
  • A special welcome amenity
  • Exclusive access to the Regency Club® or Grand Club® lounge, including complimentary breakfast
  • An upgrade to premium Wi-Fi where available
  • 4 p.m. late checkout
  • Complimentary food and beverage amenity

To make such a reservation, you must call the Hyatt Diamond line and request the stay. The terms say it is valid for stays from March 1 – December 30, 2015. This may end up being a trial program of sorts similar to the My Elite Rate that went away at the beginning of this year.

2 United Club Passes

More interesting than the passes themselves is the fact that it is for United Airline clubs. Delta and Starwood have a partnership as do American Airlines. United’s hotel partnership is with Marriott, another Chase partner. This could be the extent of Hyatt and United or it may be a little glimpse of something more.

At any rate, each member year, Hyatt Diamond members will receive 2 United Club passes (which United credit cardholders also receive). So, keep an eye on your mail for the incoming passes!

Free Premium Internet

Earlier in February, all hotel guests began to receive free internet at Hyatt hotels. Platinum and Diamond members receive free premium internet which should make work a little bit better.

Hyatt Diamond Suite Upgrades

As of yesterday as well, Hyatt has placed 4 Diamond Suite Upgrade certificates in Diamond members’ accounts for the new program year. These are extremely valuable and good on paid stays or Points + Cash stays up to 7 nights in a row per certificate.

Summary

Hyatt has made being a Diamond a little bit more valuable, especially for friends and family. If your friends or family have the points and want your benefits, they can transfer their points to your account to book the award stay. It requires filling out this form but it should be no big deal for friends or family to do with you. Thanks to Hyatt for making the benefits just a little bit stronger!
