Amex Offer

With it being winter in the land down under, prices are at the low point for travel to Australia and New Zealand. Not exactly cheap, but certainly lower than peak season. Qantas has made a repeat offer within the Amex Offers program that may help to get those tickets more in the cheap zone.

Amex Offer – Get $400 Back On $2,000 Spend With Qantas

Amex Offer

Accessing the Amex Offer

Log in to your American Express account and click on any of the cards you have in the account. Scroll down to the Offers portion and you should see the following offer waiting for you!

To maximize itadd the offer to separate cards, simply login to your American Express account and then choose to duplicate the tab (if using Google Chrome) as many times as you have cards. Once they are all open, select a different Amex card in each tab and select to save the offer to the card.

Qantas ran a similar offer not too long ago, but then it was get $400 back for $2,500 spend. This time around, they have made it quite a bit better of a savings and it works very good for those that want to travel as a couple of Australia.

Qantas

  • Spend $2,000, get $400 back
  • Expires 8/15 (tickets must be purchased by then, not flown)
  • Valid only on purchase of airfare at Qantas’ US website (no vacation packages)
  • Valid only online
  • Enrollment limited (so add it quickly!)

Searching For Tickets

Amex Offer

Use ITA Matrix to search for cheap dates to hit Australia with this great deal!

Of course, you do not need to buy 2 tickets – you could use this statement credit to offset higher priced tickets to anywhere in qantas’ network.  When searching, I started at ita matrix to find the dates for the cheapest flights. I searched a variety of airports and the cheapest airports for many dates are actually Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia. I have seen tickets recently for as low as $1,100 (of course, there was a mistake fare a couple of weeks ago from Australia to the US roundtrip for $400 – but that is gone).

Maximize Your Trip!

Do not forget to check out Auckland as well! And to really maximize your time in that wonderful region of the world, do not forget to use Avios to book awards on Qantas. Qantas domestic flights can be pricey so nothing like using a few thousand Avios to get that same ticket!

You could fly from JFK to Melbourne, bounce around a bit and then hit Auckland. Your ticket could then return from Auckland to JFK. So, it would be JFK-Melbourne / Auckland – JFK and you could take $400 off whatever price you find as long as you are spending a minimum of $2,000.
