JetBlue Steps Up To Honor Fallen Officers

On December 20th, there was the horrific murder of two NYPD officers in Brooklyn. It is certainly a sorrowful thing for the families involved, but it also extends to the family in blue. Today is the funeral service for one of the officers, Rafael Ramos.

JetBlue has stepped up to make the wonderful gesture to fly all the family members of Officers Ramos and Wenjian Liu to the funeral services. But, not only are they providing flights for family members, but they have also extended their help in offering to fly 2 police officers from each department along JetBlue’s networks served. It is space permitting, but it is still a great gesture to honor the fallen officers and police officers in general. In addition, they are also working to bring the family of Officer Liu from China for the funeral as well.

As the son of a retired police officer, I want to extend my gratitude to JetBlue for honoring these officers and their families in this way. Certainly, there are a lot of things that airlines do that annoy us, but kindhearted gestures like this really give us a reason to be thankful for the access air travel provides and how kind the providers can be in situations like this.
