Huge Changes for Delta Sky Club Membership

Delta has moved on with their devaluations with their Sky Club membership options. The Delta Sky Club is a great network of domestic (as well as some international) lounges with some new lounges that have opened in the last year. They have decent food, drinks, internet access, showers, and privacy.

However, Delta has now changed how much it costs to access the lounges as well as how many people will have access. Here are the changes:

  • Effective immediately, membership price is $695 annually. This Executive Membership will continue to allow two complimentary guests. (this up from $450)
  • For those customers who rarely need guest access, an Individual Membership at the current rate of $450 will be introduced Spring 2014. This membership will allow guest access for $29 per visit. (current membership allows two guests)
  • Beginning May 1, 2014, all customers who receive complimentary Delta Sky Club access as a benefit of their eligible credit or charge card will no longer receive complimentary guest access. A $29 fee per guest will apply. (this is for American Express Platinum cards and American Express Delta Reserve card – currently allows two guests)

Bad news for everyone but those who have been wanting the clubs cut down on guests. It is a shame that they are doing this and will certainly impact a lot of travelers, especially families. I know the Amex Delta Reserve card used to be valuable for me because of the guest feature. This way, when traveling with my family, we could enter the club together. No more! Thanks a lot, Delta! 🙁
