How Hyatt Made My Daughter’s Special Day Even More Special

For my kids’ birthdays, we have created a little tradition of going to what my kids call their “favorite hotel” – the Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki. They have an incredible kid pool and the property is excellent. The breakfast is fantastic, plus they always take great care of Platinum and Diamond members (not that my kids care about that part, but they enjoy the fruits of that care!).

When my parents were visiting, we went to the Hyatt with them and enjoyed watching them have a great time with the kids. During checkout, I mentioned to the staff (again) how my kids absolutely love the hotel. They asked when I would be back again and I answered that we would be back for my daughter’s birthday in a couple of weeks.

How Hyatt Made My Daughter’s Special Day Even More Special

Fast forward a couple of weeks and I walk into the hotel to check-in. The representative at the check-in desk welcomed me by name and asked how I was. She then said that she knows how much my kids like the hotel and pool. They were very welcoming and gave us another nice room.

The next morning, we went downstairs for the breakfast. While my wife was getting some food from the counters, an employee walked up to her and asked if she was Mrs. Barkowski. When my wife said she was, she pointed to our daughter and asked if it was her birthday and how old she was. When my wife told her, the lady said that the staff had prepared a birthday cake for her. She then brought a beautiful cake over with 7 candles to wish her happy birthday.

My daughter was very surprised and extremely happy about it! She said, “this is the best birthday ever!” We all enjoyed the delicious cake and went back up to our room. No fewer than 3 employees said “Happy Birthday” to our daughter and asked how our stay had been up to that point.

I should note – except for my passing comment about my daughter’s birthday – that I never told anyone it was her birthday. The fact that they remembered us and said “Happy Birthday” and then went ahead and made her a cake was very special!

It is always nice to see a company go an extra mile and show a level of personal kindness that is never expected. Thank you, Hyatt, for making a young girl’s birthday even more special by your thoughtfulness!
