IHG has just rolled out their fall promotion and it is pretty good – for new customers (and, I guess, some current customers!). I am still enjoying the results of last year’s “Into the Nights” promotion that netted me 2 free nights at any IHG hotel for only 3 Holiday Inn stays. I used on certificate at the fabulous Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington DC and will be using the other at the Sydney Intercontinental in a couple of weeks.

2 Free Nights For New Customers

IHG

The offer for new IHG customers

With this round of IHG’s fall promotion, it really pays to be a new customer. For the new customer, you will earn 1 free night at any IHG hotel with only 2 IHG paid stays and you can earn up to 2 free nights (which requires 4 stays). If you limit your stays to a single night, that is only 4 IHG nights for 2 free nights at any IHG hotel. Since it is possible to find IHG brand hotels for cheap (even at or under $50 per night), you would essentially be paying $200 for 2 free nights at any hotel. With the Willard Intercontinental costing well over $400 quite often, that is a huge return on your spending for the paid nights to earn that free night!

At Least 50,000 Points For Current Customers

IHG

My IHG offer – needing to stay 6 nights to get the 50,000 points is not worth it for me this time around.

Of course, for current customers, it is another tiered promo where you will earn at least 50,000 points but you are going to have to work for it. My requirements are such that I will not be participating this time around (thankfully, my wife is not yet an IHG member so we will just use her account). I have enough stays coming up at Hyatts to requalify for Diamond so I do not want to have to chase all of these IHG stays just for the 50,000 points.

But, it is worth checking your account to see what your offer is! Gary at View From the Wing said that some current customers are receiving offers for 150,000 points! If you have some time on the road between September 1 and December 31, you could lock in quite a haul! With Pointbreak hotels only costing 5,000 points per night, you would have access to 30 nights of Pointbreak stays if you had that huge offer and fulfilled the requirements!

Go here to login and see what you have been offered. The promotional period is for stays between September 1 – December 31, 2015. The free nights just need to be used before December 31, 2016, so you have a long time to take advantage of them! See this page for the terms of the promotion.
