Get a great deal on the Garmin Forerunner 630. This GPS watch delivers excellent metrics while also giving you smart notifications on the go.

This morning, I wrote about the nice deal on the Garmin Forerunner 230. Also today, there is a nice deal on the Garmin Forerunner 630. If you require a little more out of your running watch and you like the touchscreen approach, this Garmin Forerunner 630 is a deal for you.

Like the deal from this morning, this watch is manufactured refurbished. I absolutely love Garmin’s customer service and how they have stood by their products with me so I have no problem recommending such a watch.

Also like the 230, the Garmin Forerunner 630 does not have a built-in optical heart rate monitor. Instead, it relies on a chest strap for measuring your heart rate. It also requires such a strap – and a particular one at that – if you want to dial in with some extra running metrics.

This watch has a wealth of metrics available for the runner who wants to use data to help improve his or her performance. The question of how helpful such data will be will depend on what you are looking for but I always found it at least interesting to check to see how certain workouts were performed.

Such metrics include:

  • Stride Length
  • Ground Contact Time
  • Ground Contact Time Balance
  • Vertical Oscillation
  • Vertical Ratio

Not only does it have those extra running metrics, but it also has a touchscreen. If you want a GPS watch that gives you incredible performance for running, smart notifications, and a touchscreen, this should be the deal for you. A touchscreen did not use to be something everyone preferred but now with the onslaught of smartwatches like the Apple Watch, I see more and more people tapping on a watch face – even if it does not have a touchscreen (you can always tell this way who has spent time with an Apple Watch or something like a Samsung watch!).

Finally, it also offers some navigation bits like Virtual Racer (to race against a previous course you ran or an uploaded one) and Virtual Pacer (to help you stay to a consistent pace – can be helpful for races). These can be fun, and definitely useful, depending on how much you look to your watch on runs.

At any rate, this is a pretty decent deal. A new model will run you $249 so this is a nice savings.
