American Express has loaded up a lot of offers into their Offers portion of the website for cardholders. Some of them are pretty decent but one really stood out to me and that was the Spend $200 at Marriott and receive $50 back! That is a pretty lucrative offer – it makes any stays at qualifying Marriott hotels to be had at 25% off!

$50 Back On $200 Marriott Spend

The terms do not say anything about gift cards, but I tried to purchase a gift card online and was not reimbursed for it. If you go to a Marriott and purchase a gift card from there, you may have success. The gift cards online are run by Interval Interational which is probably why the rebate is not issued.

Valid for stays from November 6 – December 31, 2014.

Here are the terms:

Offer valid only at Marriott® Hotels brand properties. Must book directly with Marriott Hotels. Reservations must be made online at www.marriotthotels.com. Offer valid only for charges to the room, including room rate, in US and Puerto Rico only. Offer not valid in Guam. Offer excludes the following brands: The Ritz-Carlton®, EDITION®, AC Hotels by Marriott®, Autograph Collection®, JW Marriott®, Renaissance Hotels®, MOXY(TM) Hotels, Courtyard®, SpringHill Suites by Marriott®, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott®, Protea Hotels(TM), Residence Inn by Marriott®, TownePlace Suites by Marriott®, Marriott Executive Apartments®, Gaylord Hotels® and Marriott Vacation Club®. Enrollment limited. Offer not valid for stays that are paid for before or after 11/6/14 and 12/31/14. Must add offer to Card and use same Card to redeem. Corporate Cards and all prepaid Card products are not eligible for this offer. Limit 1 statement credit per American Express Card across all American Express offer channels. Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 12/31/14, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you will not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it.

As you may notice, there are several brands within the Marriott hotel system that are excluded since this is only for Marriott brand hotels.

Getting the Offer

Log in to your American Express account and scroll down to the bottom. You will see Amex Offers For You. Select it and add the offers you want to your card. Make sure you make note of which card you save it to.

Amex offers

To maximize it, add the offer to separate cards, simply login to your American Express account and then choose to duplicate the tab (if using Google Chrome) as many times as you have cards. Once they are all open, select a different Amex card in each tab and select to save the offer to the card.
