Why You Should Get the Citi AAdvantage 60,000 Mile Offer

The Citi AAdvantage 60,000 mile offers are set to expire tomorrow – maybe! Here are some things to think about if you want these miles.

Apparently, the Citi AAdvantage cards will be dropping tomorrow to a lower amount. However, there is a very good chance that the 60,000 mile links will stick around – but just not through affiliate channels! It is normally pretty easy to find a 50,000 mile link all the time so it may be the same with the 60,000 mile links.

Why You Should Get the Citi AAdvantage 60,000 Mile Offer

Because I Get Money From Your Application!!! 🙂

So, if the links possibly will still be around, why should you get the Citi AAdvantage 60,000 mile offer now? Because if you do it through my links, I will get money for it! 🙂

There, I’ve always wanted to say that – and kind of wish other blogs would say that as well as one of their reasons! 🙂 The truth is that blogs like mine do earn affiliate cash/points when you apply through our links – whether they are direct links in the body of the post or indirect links (like mine, located through the Credit Cards tab at the top of the page). Of course, I like it when readers use my links but I also like for readers to know that I do benefit if they apply and are approved using those links.

Obviously, do not apply for these cards for that reason!!!

Card Details – Personal Card and Business Card

  • 60,000 miles after spending $3,000 in the first 90 days
  • $95 annual fee (waived the first year)

Are the Offers Worth It?

The truth is that I do think the Citi AAdvantage 60,000 mile offer is a good one and I do have both the personal and business versions. AA miles are certainly not worth what they used to be but there is still some value to be had, especially if you use them without involving flights to/from the US. For example, my daughter and I flew this year from Abu Dhabi to London in Etihad’s First Apartments and really didn’t have that much trouble locating the flights for the dates we wanted. The same is true for other regions around the world that I have checked out also.

Poor Award Space?

If you want to use the AA miles for travel from the US, it will be difficult to find premium cabin space for sure and even economy on some routes. For example, there was not a single business class seat open for Philadelphia to Athens for the summer months and very few economy awards available! That is just pitiful and for AA withholding space makes me want to cancel my cards!

10% Rebate On Miles Used

But, there is value to having the card as well. It comes with a unique perk of receiving a 10% rebate on the miles you redeem in a calendar year, up to 10,000 miles. That is a nice little extra to have! So, if you redeem the 60,000 miles while you hold the card, you will receive 6,000 miles back!

Should You Apply Now?

Remember, you cannot get the bonus on the business card if you have had the bonus in the last 24 months or currently have one open. You cannot get the personal card if you opened or closed one in the last 24 months.

I think these are strong offers and there is value to be had. But, the ease of use is not what it used to be before with AA so keep that in mind. Also, keep in mind that I receive a commission if you apply using my links below or in the credit card tab. 🙂

If you are not in a hurry for AA miles, I saw wait. There are plenty of other credit card offers that may benefit you more right now. But, if you are ready for the next opening of the AA award floodgates and need more miles, now may be a good time. 🙂

  • Question. I’m rather new to this. Are you saying that if I have a personal AA citi card, I can open another exact same card in my name and get another bonus, as long as it’s been >24 months since I opened the first (and provided I haven’t closed it within the last 24 months)? Thanks

    • You are absolutely correct! It is a Citi thing on how they normally suppress repeat customers but as long as your current AA citi card was opened over 24 months ago and you have not closed it within that time, you are good to go!
With Chase, you cannot have the same card so many people will close a particular card before applying for a new one. If you do that with Citi, you will have to wait 24 months to get that bonus again! So, better to keep it open!
