Earn 15X United Miles + Amex Offer + 20% Off At eBags

Deal combo
Written by Charlie

Yesterday, I posted about a deal combo that would let you save money, earn miles, and pick up some things that you may have had a need for.

Today, we head into round 2 – instead of AA miles at 10X, you can now get 15X United miles. While I love AA miles, United miles are some of the best beneficial to me, so this deal combo is actually something that would be more of an interest to me. Hopefully, it will be the same for you!

Great Deal Combo: Amex Offer, 15X United Miles, 20% Coupon [eBags]

Amex Offer: $15 Back on $75 eBags Purchase

Accessing the Amex Offer

Log in to your American Express account and click on any of the cards you have in the account. Scroll down to the Offers portion and you should see the following offer waiting for you!

Amex offer

Here are the details:

  • Must be used by June 10, 2015
  • Must be used online
  • Enrollment limited (in other words, save this offer to your card now)

To maximize itadd the offer to separate cards, simply login to your American Express account and then choose to duplicate the tab (if using Google Chrome) as many times as you have cards. Once they are all open, select a different Amex card in each tab and select to save the offer to the card. This shows up as available on every one of my cards – charge cards, business cards, and personal cards.

Maximizing The Offer

To maximize this deal to get the most for your money, make sure you do these steps:

Use Discount Code

While discount codes can void your portal bonuses, they won’t if you use codes that are found on the website or on the portal site. In this case, there is a 20% code that is available on both and it is ESCAPE. This code will not work on some of the higher name-brand luggage, but it will work on a lot of brands like Travelpor.

Sign-up for their rewards program

You will receive a 5% bonus in the rewards program on everything you buy. This bonus can be used on future purchases.

Go Through United’s MileagePlus Shopping Portal

Today, United bumped the earnings on their eBags referral to 15X miles from 6x miles. This is nice bump that should net you some serious miles, depending on your purchases. Make sure you start your purchases through the shopping portal – here.

Up To 2,500 Additional Miles

Deal combo

In addition, if you purchase a total of $150 worth of merchandise through the United portal from May 13 – June 15, you will earn an additional 500 miles. If your spending hits $350, you will earn 1,000 extra miles with $700 in purchases earning your 2,500 miles. These amounts do not need to be spent only at eBags – any merchants through the United shopping portal through June 15 will count (it is cumulative, not all one purchase). So, keep this bonus in mind as well.

Putting It All Together

eBags

This particular bag, a 21″ spinner from Travelpro – the Travelpro – Maxlite 3 21″ Exp. Carry-On Spinner Luggage – actually costs at least $15 less than from Amazon. After the sale and discount, it comes down to$95. Once you figure the Amex Offer, it brings it down to$80. You will also earn a 5% reward towards future purchases using eBags rewards program. Finally, you will end up with 1,200 United miles.

So, we start with a sale price of $118 before going down to the discount price of $95. That is the amount that the miles and rewards will be based on because the Amex Offer is a credit back to the statement by Amex.

All in all, this is a pretty good deal! If you are looking for some gear, try it out to see what kind of deals you can get! Feel free to leave in the comments what deals you find.
