Boston Marathon Fundraising

Written by Charlie

Just one week ago today, the terrible events of the Boston Marathon bombing occurred. Many were injured and some passed away as a result of the explosions. One week later, the bombers have been taken off of the street, thanks to the tips of citizens and the incredible work on the part of the law enforcement officials.

Invalid request error occurred.

As typically happens with such tragedies, many people and organizations rushed to provide aid and assistance for those affected. As a result, the One FundBoston was established to take donations to assist those affected. John Hancock, major Boston Marathon sponsor, donated the first $1 million with other companies and individuals following. Today, New Balance has also stepped forward with a donation of $1 million. Currently, the One Fund Boston is not a 501(c)3 organization (an organization which has tax-exempt status), but that is being worked on and following the IRS determination (which would almost certainly be approval), the donations contributed to One Fund become tax-deductible retroactive to the organization’s founding date.

Boston Marathon Fundraising

In an effort to help One Fund Boston, I will be donating all monies I receive as credit card commissions for applications from now through April 29, 2013. I will be putting all of the card links below for which I receive a commission and if you click on any of those links and are approved, I will give 100% of the money received from it to the One Fund Boston (I only receive a commission if you are approved). If you would like to let me know that you applied and were approved, please leave a comment below so that others may see the tally of applications.

It is always a pleasant feeling to be able to give to those in need. In this instance, you will actually be getting some great things (bonus points/miles/cash back, etc) and it will not cost you anything! Again, you will not be giving any money at all – the money being donated to the One Fund Boston will come from the commissions I receive as an affiliate with the credit card companies.

Thank you for helping the people affected by the Boston Marathon bombing. I will post next Monday how much has been raised through your applications. Thank you for your time and choosing to help people through your application. If you have any questions about any of the cards below, please do not hesitate to contact me for information and help. Let’s get some miles/points and do some good for those in need at the same time!
Reminder – this is not to benefit me in any way. Every penny will go to the One Fund, so please feel free to leave your comments below on which card you were accepted for so you can feel comfortable that I am honoring this commitment. Thank you for your assistance! (Even though I am FAR from a Patriots fan, I threw the Patriots credit card in there as well! 🙂 )
