The 10,000 Mile Anniversary Bonus On The US Airways Card Will Stay

The US Airways Mastercard has long been one of the best cards to get for quick miles – make one purchase and get 40,000 miles (or 50,000, as it was before). Things have changed a bit over the last year and that includes the annual fee not being waived the first year anymore and no longer coming with a 10,000 mile anniversary bonus.

But, the good news out from Barclaycard is that the anniversary bonus will continue, even after the merger takes place! There was a lot of speculation as to when that bonus would expire but it is great to finally hear that it will remain. Yes, the annual fee of $89 will still be in effect, but that means you are essentially buying US Airway miles (and AA miles after the merger) at a rate of $.0089 per mile (for the 10,000). That is a great deal – just don’t ever cancel because they will stop taking applications for the card in the next year. Also, the current offer does not come with the anniversary bonus nor did some of the cards before (my wife’s card has the anniversary bonus and mine does not).

Dear Rachel Barkowski,
With your US Airways Dividend Miles® MasterCard®, you receive 10,000 Dividend Miles every year on the anniversary of your account opening.
We’re happy to let you know that once the US Airways and American Airlines loyalty programs combine in 2015, you’ll continue to receive this benefit in the form of 10,000 AAdvantage® miles.

One thing I hope continues is the spending incentive bonuses that come around every so often. But for now, this is great news!
